Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana Review: Diganth Shines in Quirky Dark Comedy Entertainer

Movie: Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana

Review:As the title suggests, the movie revolves around the daily and social struggles of left-handers. Lohith (Diganth), an IT employee who struggles with being a lefty, visits his friend Pooja’s (Nidhi) apartment. He avoids all the CCTVs and makes his way to her flat. Until then, the film sets up Lohith’s life struggles. Just before an unexpected incident that Lohith witnesses, a message appears on screen saying, “Thank you for your patience.” An unexpected death puts him in trouble. While trying to get out of it, he lands in even bigger trouble. How he manages to escape from all these problems forms the crux of the story.
The entire story is narrated with dark humour. However, it doesn’t always justify the character’s behaviour. There are many loose ends that remain unanswered. The story begins in an interesting way and has an engaging interval point. But the second half is mostly downhill. There are a few moments of laughter, but by the end, the narrative takes an emotional turn. This shift doesn’t quite fit and makes the story lose the flavour it had built up until then. Even though there are few interesting elements it feels like the writing could have been even better.
Diganth plays his role well and remains the centre of the story. Dhanu makes a promising debut—both have done their best. Nirup appears in a special role, while Nidhi has limited screen time. Abhimanyu’s cinematography and Pradyottan’s background music are impressive. Editors Sreekant and Praveen have also done a commendable job.
If you’re someone who can watch a movie just for entertainment while ignoring logic, Edagaiye Apaghatakke Karana is for you.
