KD Song Controversy: Director Prem Fires Back at Nora Fatehi!
Controversy Over ‘KD’ Movie Song: Director Prem Breaks Silence.

The song “Sarse Seraga” from the Dhruva Sarja starrer KD has landed in significant controversy. The Hindi version of the song, in particular, has faced intense criticism and opposition, leading to complaints filed against several individuals, including director Prem. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw reportedly stated in the Lok Sabha that the song has been banned. Even Nora Fatehi, who features in the song, expressed her displeasure. Following these developments, director and lyricist Prem has finally responded via social media.
Prem’s Defense: “It was a Matter of Perspective”
Director Prem stated, “No one commits a mistake intentionally or knowingly. I have written many songs to date—about mothers, gods, siblings, love, and folk themes. People come to watch my films believing there will be good music, and I am grateful for that. When I wrote this song, I did so from a different perspective.”
He explained further: “In my mind, I was visualizing a bottle of liquor and a pickle. I intended to write about ‘lifting the bottle,’ but I placed the word ‘bottle’ at the end of the lyrics to maintain a sense of curiosity. However, people interpreted it in an entirely different way. Some are using this moment to pull me down or mock me for likes and comments; I wish them well. I have never written songs with bad intentions, nor do I need to. I have clarified my intent to the media before. But if the song hurt anyone or made them wonder, ‘Did Prem really do this?’, I apologize. As a writer, one explores various styles, but I did not write this with an obscene meaning. If I have caused hurt, I seek forgiveness. I will rewrite the song and re-upload it.”
On the Hindi Version and Lyricist Rati Balam
Prem noted that there were issues with the Hindi version. “I wasn’t happy with some of the Hindi words used, but I didn’t question it due to the language barrier. Rati Balam, who wrote the Hindi lyrics, has put all the blame on me. In fact, she is the one who translated my previous Kannada hits into Hindi. She didn’t offer a proper explanation and blamed me instead, perhaps out of fear,” he said.
Reaction to Nora Fatehi’s Statement:
Addressing actress Nora Fatehi’s clarification, Prem remarked, “What Nora Fatehi said is wrong. She knew the lyrics. No actor performs without knowing the lyrics—how else would they give expressions? She shouldn’t have spoken like that. I feel she is saying this now just to escape the controversy.Even during the recent audio launch, she spoke highly of me and the song. Now her stance has changed. Regardless, I will rewrite and re-upload the song.”
