Rajesh Dhruva, Raveeksha Shetty, Jaanvi Rayala Starrer “Peter” to Release on April 10
A promising addition to Sandalwood’s April lineup, Peter is a musical love mystery aimed at offering a refreshing experience to Kannada audiences during the summer season. The film has already garnered attention through its three distinctive songs and an intriguing teaser that has sparked curiosity among movie lovers. Distributed by KVN Productions, the Kannada film Peter is all set for a statewide release on April 10. Following the success of content-driven films like Love Mocktail, Peter is being positioned as another beautiful and engaging cinematic experience. A song launch and pre-release event was held yesterday at the Artists’ Association in Bengaluru, with the entire team in attendance.
Speaking at the event, director Sukesh Shetty said that the film brings innovation at every stage and in every aspect of its content. He emphasized that audiences should experience the thrilling story set in Bhagamandala, near Madikeri, on the big screen. The narrative, combined with sound design and environmental elements, promises a fresh cinematic experience. The film features music across four different genres, which has helped its songs and teaser connect well with audiences. Promotions are already underway not just in Karnataka, but also in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Hyderabad. While the film releases in Karnataka on April 10, it will roll out in other states two weeks later. He described Peter as a one-and-a-half-year journey and thanked everyone involved.

Lead actor Rajesh Dhruva shared that Peter is his second film and described it as an emotional journey. He praised director Sukesh Shetty, calling him a future “most wanted” filmmaker in Kannada cinema, noting his dedication over three years to achieve a polished output. He also appreciated producers Ravi and Rakesh for their passion and commitment, stating they spared no effort in supporting the film. Describing his character, he said, “Peter is both a demon and a protector. The chende (traditional drum) plays a significant role in his life. How he protects it, and how he turns fierce to protect his personal life, is something audiences should experience in theaters.”

The film stars Rajesh Dhruva alongside Janvi as the female lead. The supporting cast includes Raviksha Shetty, Raghu Pandeshwar, Prathima Nayak, Ramanadagowda, Varun Patel, Bharath, Deena, Radhakrishna Kumble, and Rakshith Doddera. Sukesh Shetty, who previously directed Doordarshan, has crafted Peter as a suspenseful love story rooted in the essence of the land. The trailer hints at a gripping narrative filled with curiosity and thrill, which has already attracted film enthusiasts. Music for the film is composed by Ritvik Muralidhar, who is emerging as a promising music director in the industry.

The three songs released so far have struck a chord with audiences. The romantic track “Sundari… Sundari…” is trending, while the friendship song “Josh Ki Jawani,” sung by Sairat fame Ajay Gogavale, has drawn attention. The emotional track “Thaayiyadaiya” is also resonating deeply with listeners. The story, set in the Karnataka–Kerala border region, has been captured by cinematographer Guruprasad Narnad, with editing by Naveen Shetty. Technically, Peter is described as a strong and well-crafted film, notable for being created largely by a team of young technicians.

Produced under the Vruddhi Studios banner by Ravi Hiremath and Rakesh Heggade—both experienced sound designers who have worked on over 100 films—the project has attracted attention for its quality. Impressed by the film’s content, KVN Productions has taken up its distribution. With its songs, visuals, and overall presentation already creating a positive impression, Peter is expected to be warmly received by Kannada audiences upon its release.
