Dali Pictures’ JC: The University to Hit Theatres on February 6

The highly anticipated Kannada film JC: The University, produced by Dali Dhananjaya under his banner Dali Pictures, is all set for a grand theatrical release on February 6 across Karnataka. The film stars Surya Prakhyat and Bhavana Reddy in the lead roles, and the makers recently unveiled the film’s trailer along with the release date. Adding star power to the launch, Shivarajkumar and Jogi Prem released the trailer and extended their best wishes to the team. Since the film is a mass entertainer set largely inside a prison, the makers felt it was apt to have the iconic duo — Shivanna and Prem — unveil the trailer together, recalling their blockbuster collaboration.

A gritty prison drama with emotional depth

Directed by Chetan Jairam in his debut, JC: The University is set inside a prison and explores the dark politics, power struggles and illegal activities within the jail system. Amidst violence, crime and bloodshed, the film also tells a moving father–son emotional story.

One of the trailer’s standout dialogues —
“It’s okay if my son wears a crown, but he should never wear a stain” —
has already struck a chord with audiences.

Star reactions to the trailer

After watching the trailer, Shivarajkumar and Jogi Prem were visibly impressed. Prem spoke about the harsh realities of prison life, saying: “In jail, money decides everything. Even people who get bail sometimes can’t come out. No one should ever have to experience that life.” He also praised Surya Prakhyat for his screen presence and style. Shivarajkumar shared his thoughts as well: “A jail is a place of transformation. Many people change after going there. Prakhyat has all the qualities of a future star — he’s acted very well, he’s smart, and he also has luck on his side.”

Producer Dali Dhananjaya thanked both Shivanna and Prem for their support. “Shivarajkumar has always stood by me like an elder brother. From my first production till now, he has supported me in every possible way.” Hero Surya Prakhyat made a strong statement about stardom and acceptance: “Money alone cannot make someone a hero. People must accept you and you need Saraswati’s blessings. There are star kids who have failed and people from poor backgrounds who have become superstars. Money can help you win elections, but not films.” Actress Bhavana Reddy thanked Dhananjaya for giving opportunities to newcomers and urged audiences to support the film.

Technical team & cast

The film also features renowned stunt director Thriller Manju and Vijay Sinha in key roles. Dialogues are written by acclaimed writer Masti, with Karthik handling cinematography and Rohit Sower composing the music. With its mix of action, emotion and raw realism, JC: The University promises to be a powerful mass entertainer when it releases in theatres on February 6.
