“Veera Kambala” to Hit Theatres in February
The much-awaited film Veera Kambala, directed by veteran filmmaker Rajendra Singh Babu, is set to release this February. Kambala is a traditional rural sport of Tulunadu, deeply rooted in the region’s culture with a history spanning over 800 years. Over time, the sport has undergone several changes due to legal and social challenges. Tracing the authentic history of Kambala, Rajendra Singh Babu has crafted this film in both Kannada and Tulu. The movie has been in the spotlight since its announcement, and the team has now decided to bring it to theatres in February. The director spent two years researching and developing the story and screenplay around Kambala. Renowned Tulu theatre director Vijay Kodialbail has contributed as the screenplay and dialogue writer.

A massive Kambala field was specially created near Moodubidri in Dakshina Kannada, where major portions of the film were shot. Every day, around 20 pairs of buffaloes and over 500 people participated in the shoot. A major highlight is the presence of Srinivas Gowda, the legendary Kambala racer who holds records in the sport, playing a similar role in the film. He is joined by Swaraj Shetty. Some portions of the film were also shot in Dubai. Currently, the movie is in its final post-production stage, and the team will soon announce the exact release date. The film is produced under the Baba’s Blessing Films banner by Dr. Vinith Vijay Kumar Reddy and Arun Rai Todar. Prakash Rai and Ravishankar play prominent roles, while Radhika Chetan appears in a special role. The film will also release in Tulu and features popular Tulu theatre artists such as Naveen Padil, Gopinath Bhat, and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor.
